County Fair Wins Eight Awards in International and State Competitions
February 19, 2010 – The 2009 Cabarrus County Fair received three first place awards at the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Convention held recently in Las Vegas, Nev. The Cabarrus County Fair competed in Division I for fairs with less than 100,000 in attendance.
The Fair earned first place awards in the international competition for Outstanding Promotional Advertising–Outdoor, Outstanding Interactive Competitive Exhibit and Outstanding General in the Communications Award Division and the Competitive Exhibits Award Division. The Cabarrus County Fair also took home two second place accolades in the Agricultural Division for Green Program and Agricultural Photo Series.
In addition the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences awarded the fair the first place Commissioner of Agriculture Award for the Got to Be NC Exhibit. The fair also received a first place Media Award and the first place Youth Award from The North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs (NCAOAF).
Cabarrus County Fair Manager, Candace Storey was elected to serve a three–year term on the Board of Directors for the NCAOAF. She was also appointed to serve on the Media Awards and Convention Committees. Tonya Gill, fair coordinator was appointed to serve on the Awards and County Fair Showcase Committees.
