Candidate Filing Closes February 26 for 2010 Elections

February 15, 2010 – Individuals interested in seeking election for local seats in the 2010 election must file by noon Friday, February 26 at the Cabarrus County Board of Elections Office. The primary elections for each party will be held May 4. Early voting will begin April 15. Voters will select candidates for these seats: State Senator, State Representative, County Commissioner, Sheriff, Clerk of Superior Court, and Cabarrus County and Kannapolis Boards of Education.

To see an up–to–the–minute list of local candidates who have filed for election, log on to www.cabarruscounty.us/elections and click the Candidate List. To view the state and federal candidate filing list, log on to www.sboe.state.nc.us.

There is still time for county residents to change information on their voter record or to register to vote in the primary election. The deadline to register to vote is April 9 at 5 pm. County residents may download a registration form at www.cabarruscounty.us/elections, or pick up forms at the Cabarrus County Board of Elections office at 53 Corban Avenue in Concord, or at each of the municipal clerk offices, at all Cabarrus County public libraries, or at Tucker Supply in Midland.
