Public Invited to Comment on Hazard Mitigation Plan
November 6, 2009 – A plan that qualifies county residents to apply for assistance following natural disasters currently is under review. The Cabarrus County Hazard Mitigation Plan evaluates hazards in the county and establishes hazard mitigation practices to address these hazards. North Carolina law requires each county to have a hazard mitigation plan. The plan is reviewed and updated every few years.
The public is invited to an initial public hearing to alert county officials to known or perceived natural hazards within Cabarrus County and to comment on the existing hazard mitigation plan at 6:30 pm Monday, November 30 in the multi–purpose room of the Cabarrus County Governmental Center. Neighboring communities as well as agencies, businesses, academia, non–profit organizations, and other interested groups also are invited.
Any questions concerning this hearing should be directed to the Cabarrus County Emergency Management Department at 704-920-2143. The current plan is available for review online at the Cabarrus County website: www.cabarruscounty.us/EMgmt/hazardmitigation.html.
