Follow Up Meeting to Explore Land Use Along NC 3 Corridor

January 12, 2009 – Centralina Council of Governments, in association with Cabarrus County and the City of Kannapolis, will hold two follow up public forum sessions on January 22 to discuss the Transportation and Land Use Study draft maps and text. As part of the forum, residents will have an opportunity to provide further input and feedback on how the corridor should develop over the next 10 to 15 years.

Public forum sessions will be held Thursday, January 22 from 4 until 5:30 pm and 6:30 until 8 pm at Bethpage Presbyterian Church at 6020 Mooresville Road in Kannapolis. Residents or business owners who own property along the NC Highway 3 corridor between Kannapolis and Mooresville are encouraged to participate in one of two follow up public forum sessions.

As the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis is developed, additional growth is expected along this portion of NC Highway 3. Centralina Council of Governments, in association with Cabarrus County and the City of Kannapolis, are examining how the NC Highway 3 corridor should develop over the next 10 to15 years and are addressing policies and regulations that local governments could enact to support the land use plan’s recommendations.
